I did manage to do some reading while we were on our road trip last week, much to my surprise.
I finished Rug Hooker’s Companion. It is a cute little book chock full of useful information on rug hooking. Set up in a dictionary format it takes you, alphabetically, through terms related to rug hooking. Nice graphics, nice glossy pages. Small enough to fit in your purse. A great little reference book for beginners.
I also finished Celebrating Saskatchewan Artists. It is a compilation of stories of artists across various disciplines in Saskatchewan. There is a preamble about their careers, and then their artist statements and a brief bio. It was interesting to read where the arts have been in Saskatchewan, and where they might be heading. I have a better idea of how to write an artist’s statement now, and may make a few changes to my own as a result.
So, for week 3 I have on my slate:
- Vertical Gardening by Derek Fell,
- The Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp (I’ll get to it yet!),
- Design Basics for Rug Hookers by Susan Feller,
- E-commerce: Business, Technology, Society by Kenneth Laudon and Carol Guercio Traver.
Yes, the last one is a university textbook borrowed from a friend. I plan to skim it for useful information for my website and online side of my business.
