No matter what field you are engaged in it is important to keep up-to-date with the latest tools of the trade and modes of doing business.
I took the opportunity yesterday to join CARFAC (Canadian Artists Representation) so I could access information sorely needed at this point, and hopefully partake in some workshops this year at discounted prices.
And speaking of workshops, there is what looks like an excellent workshop offered by the SCC (Saskatchewan Crafts Council) coming up the end of February on social media and how to use it in your art business. I am already plugged into Twitter, but have no idea how to use it. And I am on Linked In, with limited knowledge on how to use it. And on Pinterest, again with limited knowledge on how to use it. I use Facebook, but only for family and close friends. So yeah, I figure I could sure use some help in the social media field! I’m registering today in hopes of getting in.
I spent most of yesterday working on my taxes. Pulled together receipts and worked on creating a spreadsheet in Open Office for my accountant. I am still missing some receipts. Sigh. I do not know how that happens when I try so hard to collect them all year!
Phoned my accountant’s office and talked to her assistant. Turns out I need to track inventory starting this year too. She assured me it was “easy”. Hmm… Now I have to go back into receipts and figure out what is sold and what I have.
Today I am waiting for the dishwasher repairman to phone and possibly come (should I be so lucky) to repair our new dishwasher. Don’t ask. 🙁
