Working from home does have its challenges.  I’ve sampled numerous ones.  But the biggest for me is distractions.  I mean there’s dishes to do, laundry to do, places that need picking up and general de-cluttering, etc.

Then there’s the interruptions.  Things like the furnace repairs yesterday, telemarketers, the doorbell rings, people coming and going…   Mind you, some of those you have even in an outside studio.  And you can even suffer from the flip side of too much isolation, leading to boredom.

Still…I like to work at home because everything is close by.  I don’t have to get up and go to work any further than my sunroom.  Meaning I can work on days when normally I couldn’t get to work because of the weather or some other inconvenience.  And I can work in my pajamas if I want to.

It saves me time to work at home.  No commute.  It also saves me money.  No lunches out, unless I want to go out with friends.  Also no fancy work clothes…not that an artist in an outside studio would wear fancy work clothes…

Do any of you work from your homes?  Or have you and now work out of a studio? What do you see as advantages and disadvantages?  I’m curious to know.  Every now and then I think an outside studio would be nice.  But then again I think of how much it would cost and decide to stay home and work.
