A wonderful trip to the Maritimes everyone! We’re back home safe and sound.
I did fit in a bit of rug hooking on the trip. My daughter’s nineteen year old kitchen rug needed a new binding. Thanks to the help of online friends on the Wooly Mason Jar Facebook group I was able to find some Briggs & Little yarn to bind it. My daughter is very happy with the new herringbone edge.
I also was to the Hooked Rug Museum of North America, which I told you about in a previous post. Plus I was able to visit the Belfast Mini Mills to spend some birthday money on dyed roving to spin, or not, for my wall hangings.
Ah! I forgot to tell you my 60th birthday was while I was away. My younger sister, her Husband and daughter went all out. My brother, his wife, her sister, and her husband were also there. As was my eldest daughter and her husband! It was a full table with eleven of us for supper! My sister decided it warranted two birthday cakes: one chocolate and one white. But not just any white cake! My niece made a lemon blueberry pound cake of her own recipe, and glazed it with vanilla frosting. It was to die for! So yummy and moist. Don’t bother to request the recipe – she isn’t sharing.
I was able to reconnect with a cousin I hadn’t seen since childhood. That was cool. Turns out his partner is from a place my eldest sister has visited. We were meeting at my eldest sister’s place. She and my cousin’s partner had a great time talking about her home stomping grounds.
Now we’re home it’s time to get caught up around here. Today is household chores and make appointments day. Have a great rest of the week everyone!
