Company arrived Saturday and we’ve been having a blast! A couple of us drove the sag wagon while the rest bicycled to Chester, Nova Scotia from Halifax. Yes. It was 77.2 km. They were an pretty tired crew when they rode up to the Mecklenburgh Inn, where we were staying. But happy too. They had a good day on the trail.
And I had a good day with the other sag wagon person. We drove the slow route to Chester, stopping to visit his old family haunts and some antique stores and book stores. We arrived in Chester about 1 1/2 hours before the cyclists. Enough time to read a book and nap.
We went to The Rope Loft for supper. It’s a good restaurant on the waterfront with a fascinating history. The original building is over 200 years old. Our travelling companions were comparing the structure to their almost 200 year old farmhouse. It was a good meal with healthy portions.
After walking back to the Mecklenburgh, we played a difficult game of Scrabble. It took an hour. We all had to help each other. And no one scored over 200!
For those who have never been to the Mecklenburgh, it’s floors are peppered with primitive hand hooked rugs. Absolutely gorgeous! Here’s a sampler…
Today we complete the ride and head home.
If you have been, thank-you for reading. Have a great week!
