Good afternoon everyone! It’s been a busy week, what with being the end of one month and the beginning of another. The usual banking and shopping happened. The grocery shopping was a bit more complex this time. Canadian Thanksgiving is next weekend and I wanted to buy some food ingredients early.
We also have company of the Asian persuasion arriving for Thanksgiving. Our Thanksgiving roughly coincides with the Korean Chuseok Festival. I love cooking, and I love a lot of Asian food. So I’ve been busy exploring the local Korean grocery stores in search of ingredients for my meals. There isn’t much I’m afraid. But maybe I just haven’t found the right store…
Yesterday I spent making three different kimchi recipes of varying heat. I also made the spicy pickled radish (daanmooji).
Today I’ve switched gears. I’m thoroughly into North American cooking. I made unsweetened applesauce to freeze for baking, I have vegetable stock simmering on the stove. Plus I am in the process of making Apple Peel and Core Jelly. I use local apples and wash them all ahead of time with a produce wash from Norwex to get off any chemicals or coatings.
I think I am going to need to take a break from rug hooking until fall harvest is finished. There is simply too much going on here. I’m loving it though. It’s nice to have a full larder. I do have an abundance of tomatoes still. I think I’ll roast some and store them in the freezer. They take up less space that way.
As you can see, my mind is not on rug hooking these days! If you have been, thanks for reading. Have a great weekend everyone!
