Finishing 104 goes beyond basic folding, mitreing and stitching down edges, to herringbone and whipped edges as well. It includes the proper use of cording and twill tape to finish a rug for the floor or multiple other uses. While basic folding, mitreing and stitching down the edge is my finish of choice for wall hangings, for floor rugs I prefer a more robust finish with herringbone or whipped edges and a twill tape attached to the back to hold everything in place.
Finishing 104 is a 2 hour course and, as such, we will only be finishing samples. The student should be able to take the samples home and transfer what they learned to their own rug hooked pieces. If you have a particular piece you want help finishing, then it is best to book a private custom lesson for $35/hour. You will provide all the materials and equipment necessary for finishing your piece.
Please come 15 minutes early to pay for the class and set up.
