WIP Thursday

My work corner

Sorry my post is a bit late folks.  Lots of running around doing Christmas stuff.  Trying to get a package in the mail and off to my girls and their men.

I’ve also been working on the jeanottosen.ca some more.  It’s slow going sometimes.  Keep an eye on things!  I plan to run a contest in early January on the new blog.   Today I’m uploading more product to the website.

I’m almost finished reading “Everyone’s An Artist” by Tite, et al.  I really am enjoying this little book.  It has some editing issues (mostly typos), but the content is good stuff.

I’m partly gearing up for International Rug Hooking Day on Sunday, December 4th!  I plan to spend the afternoon hooking along with my online friends.  “Moss” won’t get finished if I just look at it!

In my studio…

I managed to partially pick up the mess in the studio Friday.  Spent most of the day working with Hubby to do a deep clean of the house before Christmas.  I try to do this every year before I decorate.

I decided to put up the Christmas tree last evening and managed it and a few major home decoration items on my own.  Still have a ways to go, but I’ll get there!  So, yeah, I’m in Christmas mode here.

Still thinking about rearranging artwork and hooked wall hangings on walls.

Today I’ll be dealing with organizing my business books.  Which means continuing to look for missing receipts.  I found some over the weekend, but I’m still missing a few.

I also hope this week to post most of my product on the new website.

I am in the mood to do more serious sketching of rug designs.  Different style.  We’ll see what happens.  They might make it to backing…or not.

WIP Thursday

I’ve been busy knitting on the cellular baby blanket.  I was joking to some friends that there were so many mistakes in it it looked like a pattern!  The pattern is going to be thrown out when I’m finished.  I never could get it to work properly.  Next time I’ll pick up some plain knitting to work on in the company of other people.  It appears I cannot stay focused on a basic lace pattern.  I’m going to block the blanket when it’s done, see how it looks, and then decide what to do with it.  But I strongly suspect it will find its way to the local thrift store.  Note to self: not all projects work out…and that’s okay.

I hooked a bit on “Moss” this week.  I am not overly happy with the values I’ve chosen for different colors.  I am trying not to go to the dye pot because I have so much fiber in the house already.  I’ll hook a tad more on it and then take it off the frame on a nice sunny day in natural light to make some color decisions/revisions.

I’ve also been loading a lot of wall hangings on Etsy for sale.  I started uploading Christmas wall hangings.  I know. I’m a bit early.  But I’m sitting beside a big tote of wall hangings and ornaments that have yet to be listed.  It’s going to take a while.

I’ve also been making more fiber bundles and uploading them to Etsy.

And I’m working on my new website.

I think that’s enough “Works in Progress” for one week!  Time to get busy on them.  Talk to you all tomorrow. 🙂

I'm ready ahead of time!

Quiche Lorraine – “Joy of Cooking” 1975 edition. I use gluten-free pastry dough and make individual servings in muffin tins.

I managed to get everything on my Christmas list done yesterday.  I’m all set for Christmas now.  Just need to remember to take things out of the freezer ahead of time. 🙂

On today’s agenda?

  • press and hem Wascana Creek,
  • sew on a hanging sleeve,
  • label and price it.

Perhaps not all that today.  I also need to do laundry before company arrives tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone! 🙂

Later…

Ooops!  Looks like plans have been derailed.  Company coming for lunch and the afternoon today.  Wascana Creek will have to wait till after Christmas now. 🙂

Tackle it Tuesday

Lots of fun today.   Company coming this evening.  I get to bake and cook!  I also need to do some serious picking up around here.

I finished up my business statement!  And pressed Wascana Creek.  I think I’m going to need to fill in some holes.  Sometimes when I hook with yarn it’s difficult to see the spots that need a few more loops.  It’s best to look at the work from the back and see if I have any big bare spaces of backing.  That’s a clue the front needs a bit of work yet.  Though I have to be careful not to pack too tightly around yarn, as it likes to “bloom” or expand when hooked, and looks best when given the room to do so.

Plans

The plans for this week:

  1. press and hem Wascana Creek,
  2. sew on a hanging sleeve,
  3. label and price it.
  4. work on business spreadsheets.  Close to being finished! 🙂
  5. If I have time, sew more sanitary napkins for women in Africa. 🙂
  6. get ready for Christmas!
  • clean fridge
  • pick up sunroom studio
  • pick up dining room
  • make grocery list
  • final grocery shop!
  • bake quiche and freeze
  • make hummus and store in fridge

And…Celebrate Christmas! 🙂

Week in Review

“Wascana Creek” – ready for finishing.

This week was a mixed bag.

  • I finished hooking Wascana Creek, as you can see. 🙂
  • I renewed my domain and transferred it to WordPress.
  • I upgraded my blog so you should see no ads now.
  • I received notice from my accountant’s assistant that she was not entirely happy with the way I filled out the T2125 Business Statement for this year.  She wants me to re-enter my expenses and income in three separate forms she provided.  I am not happy.  This should have been given to me at the beginning of the year, not the end.  I spent a lot of time since Wednesday, when I received the email, on that.  I have better things to do this time of year.  This is time consuming detailed work.

Aside from all that,

  • I’ve hosted company this week,
  • been to see the CP Christmas Train,
  • took part in a church Christmas potluck,
  • attended a potluck for a group of ladies I used to stitch with,
  • and engaged in watching Christmas movies to de-stress…I love ’em!

A Busy Day!

Raspberry Yogurt Kuchen in Anne Lindsay’s “Everyday Lighthearted Cookbook”.

Company leaving this morning.  Potluck today.  And carol singing this evening.  In-between I’ll be doing laundry.

I am hoping to pull a few loops on Wascana Creek.  I am soooo  close to being finished the hooking.

Monday Meanderings

Hi everyone!  A busy day today.  I have the laundry started and a pumpkin cheesecake in the oven.  The cheesecake will be our Christmas Day dinner dessert. 🙂

Planning to fit in some hooking today.  I’ll be visiting with a friend for a while.  And I have to make a run to the store for meds.  But otherwise my day is open for some work on Wascana Creek. 🙂

Hope everyone is having a great day! 🙂

Saturday Weekly Review

Another nativity scene from my church’s Scenes of Wonder display.

Well not a loop pulled in rug hooking this week!  But I did finish what I could of my business statement and email in to my accountant’s assistant.  She enters the figures into a program and it shoots out a completed form.  Gotta love computers! 🙂

Most of this week was spent getting ready for Christmas.  Between shopping, planning, and connecting with people over it, I didn’t seem to have a lot of energy for much else.  But I did enjoy it!  I love Christmas!

Today I have a clear slate.  I will be doing Christmas baking and cooking…and freezing. 🙂

Hope everyone has a great day! 🙂
